ABOUT THE CLUB
The UCL Fencing Club is a university run society that provides access and support for all faucets of the sport. Established in 1925, we are one of UCL's most successful sport clubs in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competitions with both our first teams competing in the BUCS Premier League, and our second team competing in the BUCS First League.
We are proud to be one of the clubs with the largest recruitment of novices to the sport, where a sizeable portion of novices continue on with the sport even outside of UCL. We are able to achieve this thanks to the hard work of our committee and our coach Rupert.
We have recently redeveloped our novice course entirely - several weeks of the basics of footwork and bladework with the epee, after which you will know enough to be able to put it into practice. Some of the current committee are fairly new to the sport as well, but even they can give more advanced fencers a run for their money!
Fencing is a brilliant opportunity to try something new; the community itself is very tight-knit, which means that the friendships made can last a lifetime. If competing is more your aim, we also offer sparring for more advanced fencers.
Our university is also a nucleus for fencing student athletes due to our excellent location within the network of London fencing clubs. We have close ties to Central London Fencing Club (CLFC), where we train and spar outside of the scheduled times. Members of the club include international competitors representing fencing nations as successful as Hungary and as far away as Australia.

We are proud to say that the London International Universities Fencing tournament (LIUF) that UCL have historically hosted for over 20 years is making a return post-COVID! This is an event organized by our club, and has historically attracted swathes of top class university fencers from home and abroad. Our Mission
UCL Fencing club pledges to provide access to the sport to every single student at UCL, and we will ensure that as many students as possible are aware of the opportunities we are providing them with. We pledge to keep our sport affordable to every student and to do as much as we can to support our top level athletes in their pursuits. We are a democratic club and will give all fencers the opportunity to represent us regardless of skill or experience. Finally we will to the best of our abilities promote fencing throughout UCL and London
